My Teaching Philosophy

About me

Welcome to my profile. I am a mathematics tutor at Pelican Waters.

Students as active participants in learning

When I teach maths, there are 3 abilities I plan to strengthen in my students. I would like to pass on quantitative intuition, techniques, and considerations for handling problems. These ideas point me to develop a teaching format in which children must be active participants in learning.

I want my learners to get able to communicate their feelings quantitatively and be able to prove whether or not those views align with the actuality. I need my students to be revolutionists. As we work some examples, I have trainees recommend solutions for various combination difficulties. This is an opportunity to emphasise that exploration is essential and you often can not know in advance exactly how a problem may end up. I really want my children to feel free to try things and discover. Sometimes they find approaches I had not considered.

In each session, beyond the selected material, I indicate that maths can be delightful and that we can easily rate the people try. I normally put benefits, such as the creation of calculus, in historic context. As an alternative, I show how maths has artistic merit.

Among my favourite aspects of teaching maths is guiding students to realise the principles underlying the material at hand. I feel this manner stems from my personal estimation of opportunities to see the big picture of mathematics and also the manner in which different bits of maths content suited as one. The time I began teaching as a graduate student, I found out that I actually loved working with students and sharing my passion for maths with them. Whereas the subject matter varied, I enjoyed talking about mathematics.

I attempt to describe principles as easily as you can and lay upon numbers of cases. Furthermore, I make it a key concern to be devoted regarding the data. I still use a prepared activity when it comes to the end of the lesson to ensure that the students have a chance to work issues prior to they go out. In some cases this activity contains practice problems, but other times it is an analysis of the topic on a deeper level.
